I'm from FL and it took me a trip to S. Cal to get this shot of a double crested cormorant. He was basking in the sun for white some time and let me get the frame I wanted. The background is the (ice cold) Pacific Ocean.

This was taken at La Jolla, a wonderful place for Pelicans, Cormorants, and Gulls. Oh and seals too ... can't forget about the seals!

Shooting Info:
Canon 5D3 | 500 f/4 II + 1.4x III
1/1250" | f/7.1 | ISO 640

I really like the wingspread and look back pose. Beautiful exposure and great BG.
I am not so crazy about the rock. I find it pulls the eye away from the cormorant but you have cropped away as much as you can already.

PS . You made me chuckle with your comment of the "COLD" Pacific Ocean in South California! Come to Nova Scotia and I think we have bragging rights to "COLD" Atlantic Ocean!!:bg3:

Perfect exposure and superb details on this cormorant Miguel! Very good wingspread too, stretched out to the max. The perch is what it is...I like the right half of it, but not so much to left half...would you have been able to scoot over to your right a tad with plunking down into the ocean?
