Topaz DeNoise on BG. Nik Detail Extractor layer to bring out detail in white feathers. Linear contrast curves layer.
Lightened eye socket, removed a bit of steeleye and cleaned up seed fragments on the bill. Slight UM.

Suggestions welcome.

Superb image of beautiful colors. Very nice pose, nice details, lights and composition. If mine would merge dark strip on left side from BG. I am not sure about horizontal branch at the bottom,
but I could see version without it. Wish image was in 1200 pix.

Regards,
Satish.

Beautiful species, with the male being especially brilliant. I like the side pose and you did a good job with the white feathers on the wing. There is still a bit of steel-eye apparent but else-wise the use of flash was well done. I do detect a few processing artifacts (cloning?) and I wish for more room at right and above. Was this at Algonquin Park?

Thanks for the input Daniel. this was taken at the Algonquin Park visitor centre.

There was a tangle of branches in the top right that I (clumsily) tried to get rid of. I saw the same issue with the crop was well.

I like the bird and the IQ of the bird but I do see al ot of cloning artifacts.
Great exposure and good DOF.
I would definitely repost this at 1200 x 900 and tidy up the BG and you would have a lovely image,

Thanks for the additional info Tim. I was there a few weeks ago, quite a sight seeing all those grosbeaks there!

Tim,

I wish I could see these guys on my side of town. You and Daniel have both done a great job of showing them off for the BPN community.

I would like to see a bit more room all around, especially on the top and right. For your next outing, I might try moving around just a bit to see if you can get a bit of a cleaner background.

What for a beautiful bird. Like the pose, colors and perch. HG-color fits very good to the bird. Well done, Tim.
