I wish this image would show the worm it is about to swallow. Taken last year during their migration up north.

Beautiful image, loved the light and sharpness. Would have liked some space at the right, if this is cropped

Beautiful light and beautiful breeding plumage. When I see them they are all gray.

I also think the crop is fine. Great light and perspective. Maybe clone out some of those water droplets?

Beautiful low angle and warm light. I like the body angle/pose, as well as the droplets of water/mud suspended in the air. Consider Western Sandpiper for the ID.... :)

Wow, quite a wonderful image! Love the low angle perspective, and the light and colours are so rich. I too could see a bit more room at right, but man, everything else just rocks!

Beautiful low angle, light and colors. Love the plumage on this beauty. Agree with suggested comp tweak, but that always comes down to personal preferences.

Very dynamic moment in nature that you captured here Enrique! Love the breeding plumage, head turn, water droplets and shallow dof.

Thanks all for your comments...

I did a crop to print on an 8.5x11 ... but could go with a 3x2 format

western sandpiper? could be... length of bill? Color? what else? need more study, thanks for the prompt!

Hi Enrique, sweet light and getting wet in the sand has paid off to achieve this excellent low angle. I like the detail and colours, and the droplets make up for the non showing of the worm. :w3

Awesome POV and the light is to die for!
I am not sure this is a sanderling.
Love the water drops,
gail

Western Sandpiper?

I agree with Tim on the ID & this is an adult in breeding plumage.

It is worth bearing in mind that Sanderling do not have hind toes.

Cheers: Wayne
