This is the same bird as my last post but it came a bit closer and I was able to get more of a portrait shot of the bird.

I ike close ups Iain ! See why its a "Sawbill"!! I feel a tighter crop would hve more impact-with less of the body which doesn't say a lot. Good old 7000 too !:t3

I like your comp very much and like the overcast light.
I really like the scalloped feathers along the bottom of the bird.
Great DOF and you were only at f 3.2. Good IQ throughout.

Thanks John and Gail. I did try cropping most of the back and even going to a vertical crop but the way it cut through the back just didn't seem to look right.

Great looking super close up image, Ian. Love the open beak with the teeth showing.

Hi Iain, good feather showing up, and the opening of the bill is a bonus - it shows up the 'teeth' nicely. I havent seen this species before, so thanks for sharing.

Nice detail Iain, and I love those teeth. Head turn, eye contact is great. A lower shooting angle, if possible would've been nice. Wonder what a vertical portrait shot would look like (if you have the pixels to spare)

Sidharth, here is a vertical portrait I tried but for some reason I preferred the landscape version and I can't quite decide why.
