A week ago I stopped by a pond near the Jersey Shore, and watched the courtship antics of a large group of Lesser Scaup. This handsome pair drifted pretty close to me as I hid in the reeds. C&C appreciated.

Hi Bill, superb image with both ducks in sharp focus. I see this species here where I live and they are very shy! I have never managed to get close to them.

My only suggestion I think the image should have a bit of CW rotation.

Hi Bill, you have nailed both poses here, great HA's from both. Both well exposed and sharp, and the detail is all there to see. Love that we can see the difference in colour of both sexes, and the difference in size. You pretty much nailed everything in this. Well captured.

Very nice alert pose on the pair Bill. Nice detail and exposure too and the light can be very tricky at some of the lakes along the Jersey Shore (especially Lake of the Lillies?).

Thanks Rob. Good guess. This was taken at what I call "Old Sam's Pond", and the maps now call "Lake of the Lilies".

I like seeing the male and female comparison like this. I also love that they are both sharp. Great job on the techs. I agree that a bit of CW rotation seems to be needed, but all else is A-1 to me.

Great looking couple, Bill. The poses are very nice, sharpness look good on both and you brought out the nice purple color in the head of the male.

What a beautiful pair. Also like that you got them both in focus, with nice head turns. Love the subtle purple showing on the male.

Great image Bill, This show both sexes nicely and the IQ looks good with both nice and sharp.

Nice Bill,
Getting both sharp is much easier said than done.
They look great...

So hard to get both in focus with these lenses that we use. Yours is perfect and very pleasing to view. Love their poses and of course your shooting angle.
