Cute little chick, for me it is just a little too far to the left of the frame, presumably you had a reason for this, perhaps the background was not photogenic.

thanks johnathan it was just one of those shot where sand and seaweed was a bit of a distraction and plus didn't think it thru good enough on comp

Agree with Jonathan about the crop, but that apart it's a cute little chick that looks very good to me.

Beautiful light and I like the curly black kelp. You were nice and low which is great.
I agree the crop is too tight on the left.
I would clone out all the stuff on the RHS as well. I find that it competes with the chick and doesn't balance the image as one would think.

Too sweet and vulnerable...and the light is beautifully rich. I love the individual grains of sand. Comp already noted.

thanks everyone for you comments i now remember why left that much room to the right i was waiting for for one of the parents to come into frame to feed the chick

I am quite disappointed though to learn that some photographers apparently don't show any respect for the signage the National Parks volunteers put up to keep people out of sensitive areas.
