I was inspired by another photographer to try taking pictures of smoke. It is pretty addictive and much like an ink blot test :D
The original of this one has the entire "pedestal" which looks pretty cool for the wizard that I see here. I uploaded the closer crop because the details get lost at small size.
The setup was:
D2X with 105mm
1/250 @ f5.0
Two Remote flashes SB R200 with blue gels
A black non reflective velvetine BG
Manual focus and exposure shot in total darkness.
Five incense cones
I didn't do much to it post shutter compared with some of the other smoke images I have. Mostly some dodge and burn on the "folds in his robe."
