This past September on a warm late afternoon, knowing there would be Osprey and Double-creasted Cormorant on a local lake, I captured this image. The sun had just dropped below the tree tops as I spotted this Cormorant taking off from the water. All C&C appreciated.

Geoffrey:
Nice full up wing position, the light on the face is effective.
On my work monitor, the overall image is displaying just a bit too dark. I like darker images in general, but might play with the curves on this one a bit more.

Great wing position, Geoffrey. I like the almost moonlit feeling to it. If it were a Raven I'd say it had a Poe-like feeling. But I think it's worth experimenting to see what opening up the shadows would do for it.

A lovely image, I wonder was it a tad underexposed to start with? I like the way the head has caught the light, it is an image that makes me look more than once, I like it very much.

Very nice, when I first looked, it appeared too dark, but on looking further I like the image

The more I look at it the better it gets, very nice!

Good wings up pose, and I like the mottled dark green BG. I can live with the apparent darkness of the frame but I see what the others mean. My main issue with the image is the head angled away a bit. Good comp with lots of nice space for the subject to fly into.
