Hi all took this at the Western Treatment Plant in Victoria Australia on Sunday.
5d mk iii, 500mm mk ii.
f/4.5 iso 800 and 1/8000 . lowered the highlights on some of the whites and 50% crop .. did some noise reduction on back ground at 25% luminance.. sharpened the resized jpg at around 50 and masking at 70.

Mervyn, wonderful pose, exposure, eye and that blue background is so very complimentary. I also like the fact that the legs are in focus. It's a neat, trim image!

Love the pose, perch, blue water and comp. It all came together very nicely. That said, I am not seeing the kind of feather details I would like to see and wondering if it's b/c of the 50% crop. It's not the NR if you only worked on the BG.

Nice image but it is on the cool side. Maybe some warming up would work.

Very nice shot, the head ,bill, and the feet look nice and sharp but the wing and tail do look a bit soft to me.

Cool pose!
A nice shorebird with good light and a very nice BG.

I like the look back pose, perch and blue BG. I would have traded some shutter speed for more DOF. Were your settings set up for a flight shot? Nice image Merv.

Hey Jim, I keep my settings at iso 800 and f stop depending on situation, I would of liked to stop down but the little bird took off before I got a chance to change my settings..
cheers,
Merv
