This lady's image was one of the highlights of a recent visit to SE Arizona. The bg is the adobe wall of a mission desaturated and lightened. The subject has a touch of Fractalius. I added the wall after reading Dennis Bishop's Color Harmony article in Denise Ippolito's Creative Photography eMini Mag. If I grasped the concept of the article, this would be an analogous color palette. Dennis, thanks for the article.

Very nice Gary, I do love the colors and the clean lines of the bird and perch. Nice job with the Fractalius too, it looks great!

Gary- Agree with Dennis, solid pose/perch with just the right amount of desaturation and texture. Nice!

This reminds me of your cactus wren post, which I liked very much. Your light application of Fractalius and somewhat restrained colors combine for a very appealing result. You caught the flycatcher in a great pose, and the perch gives some interesting texture. The background you applied gives another nice texture without being at all distracting. The colors work well together, too. (With that little bit of bluish hue on the perch, this probably isn't strictly an analogous color scheme, but it's certainly very effective.)

Very nice delicate touch with the colors. I like that this looks like a fine-line drawing. And the bkgd adds just enough texture for interest. The creamy white with hints of red works very well with the flycatcher.

Very well done, Gary. She's a beauty and I love your processing - very subtle but perfect for the image.:S3:

I love the softer colors and the light touch of Fractalius is perfect. Great pose too!

I like it very much. How would it look with a horizontal flip.

Grahame, thanks for the look and comment. Here is the flip. Not bad. The flipped image has not been altered by Fractalius.

Hi Gary My personal thought is that it makes a more powerful image

Gary, flips usually work when the result is to have the subject looking or flying left, it creates tension as the majority of viewer's natural tendency is to "read" from left to right.

In this case- something looks off balance when it's flipped, as though the subject and branch are leaning out of the frame-therefore I feel the original is a little stronger and more pleasing to the eye. Great image btw.

Interesting thought, Randall. I love both, but you have spotted a subtle detail worth thinking about. Maybe a slight rotation would fix it, if there is enough canvas, or if more can be constructed.
