This is different than your usual images. The closest oof leaf is a big distracting.

Nice capture Alan. Good HA and nice details. I agree the closest OOF leaves are a bit distracting.

Beautiful setup as always Alan. I am in the same boat as Chris, I dont mind the leaves but the oof rock at your sig is not ideal. I can see a comp choice that had to be made as the pebbles on the left look cool but you cant have those without the oof rock. Either way the bird is super sharp and has a great pose. Nice work.

Super shot Alan, on this side of the pond we tend to take background details as background details and accept them. It is all a matter of opinion but I don't find the grasses at all distracting in fact they add some authenticity to the image for me. As usual the subject is pin sharp showing excellent detail. I like the lighting mood of the colours also.

What makes this shot is the color, great pose, pebbles and eye contact. Very nice composition Alan!

This is delightful. Your little pond/bird bath set up is really sweet. The pristine plumage and perfect pose/eye level is wonderful. One consideration might be to eject the nearly white little rock an inch down from the bird's feet....sticks out a bit overall, mostly due to it's brightness.

The bird's pose and techs are just lovely. I wonder if a crop a bit up from the bottom might help, to lessen the impact of the OOF rocks? And I'm curious to know if the leaves were in-camera blur or an applied gaussian blur? They don't really bother me; just curious.

Hey Bill, no blur applied.
