Had a little fun on a jetty today with these mergies as they dove.

Ha! I'm enjoying this one a lot, Grace. Your comp is interesting and my favorite part is the visible submerged bill.

How cool Grace. I thought when I saw the thumbnail that it would be a shot of the duck with the bill just touching the water. The obvious neat thing about this capture is that we can see the head under the water. The frozen wake of water at the head looks cool and the feet poised for the dive is great. Solid techs Grace, and a real fun shot to look at.

Spectacular action captured with beautiful colors, water flash, visible beak under the water and composition.

Hi Grace
This shot seem to work because the head can be seen in the water and I really like it.
I am a little unsure about all the space behind the bird. Did you leave it because you wanted the bird where it is or to keep the IQ high?

Thank you everyone. Iain, to answer your question, I left the space for both compositional purposes and I like the sense of where the bird has been...you can see the wake trail in the water, I thought it added to the sense of motion. I also like to compose in unexpected ways. Sometimes things work and sometimes they don't :)

Thanks Grace. I think you composition works and I am just questioning it for my own learning. Thanks for the explanation.

Hi Grace, quite a neat diving pose, reminds me of a swimmer leaving the blocks. The visible beak makes the image work.

I fixed your title ( you had 'breasred' - I assume you meant breasted as corrected. :w3 )

Great shot and very cool that you caught the feet out of the water! I've never noticed that with the birds I've seen dive.

This one made me smile.
Agree the underwater bill and head make the shot! The flying feet are fun as well.
I like your comp but can also see one with the bird further back to the right in the frame,
Gail
