Summers are harsh and unforgiving in South Australia, temperatures over 40 deg C are common and everything is bone dry. I photographed this little wader (Black-fronted Dotterel) on a dried up lake bed today during a very hot late afternoon session at my local wetlands.

Canon 1D IV, 1/400, f 8.0, Evaluative Metering, ISO 800, Lens EF600mm f/4L IS USM +1.4x, Gitzo tripod + Wimberley II at ground level. Cropped and sharpened in CS6 - please have a go at this one.

I love seeing new shorebird species. You have handled the lighting conditions well. And the image design is spot-on. Cheers!

This is a wonderful bird. See it for the first time. Love the low angle, colors and details

Very nice. I like the perspective and that couldn't have been comfortable in that heat!

Not sure I would change anything.
