Kestrel (Male)

Male kestrel ( I'll save the rest of the owls for later !!) - came as a surprise onto a feeding post set up for buzzard on a friends farm. Came for mincemeat pushed into the crevices on the post. Didn't last long- the magpies soon took over but managed a couple of days worth of stuff.
Crop off a landscape as I wanted to keep the post in - WDYT ?. Possibly get a landscape crop. Head a bit too far left on this one I feel ??

Very nice, John. I envy you for the birds you have access to!
Sweet bg and a gorgeous specimen.
I'd crop from the bottom and go landscape on this one. Would add a sliver to the right (the tail is a bit tight).
Cropping from the bottom would hide the "hand of man" in this one and landscape comp would work with the pose I feel.

Great looking shot John. Love the colors of this Kestrel as ours don't have the grey tail. I'm with Sid and Marina about the landscape comp as he is leaning forward and it will lessen the perch, which looks pretty nice with the green algae on it. Well done.

Fantastic shot of this lovely bird.
I think this would work as ether a vertical or horizontal. Did you have more room at the top? I think it could do with a little more space there in the vertical format.
I really enjoy seeing you images John and always wonder what species you will find next.

Iain-appreciated. I,ve done a few over the past 50 odd years I suppose. but things are slowing upa bit. Problem is- alot of the birds common when I started are slowly getting really rare.
