Elephant Rock in Valley of Fire State Park. There was a golden afternoon sun that really helped bring out the textures of the elephant. I used a polarizer to bring out the sky and background.

Beautiful image in RGB. I couldn't help but want to see it in B&W. One click in PS with BW-Auto yielded a very impressive BW image.

Striking rock formation and nice half moon.
Harsh midday light was not your friend…….

I like it. It feels like you cropped off the tip of the "trunk." If so, I'd like to see a tiny bit more of that. I'd bring the Shadows up and peak Reds down just a little. The Clarity (micro contrast) might bring a out a little more detail in the shadows. Colors are great.

Ok thank you all for the feedback. I already worked on the image and cropped it, so I would have to redo it all, I should start cropping only after I edit the shots. Anyhow, I raised the shadows a bit, and added some clarity to them. Also lowered the reds a tad bit, what do you guys/gals think?

That's more in line with what I was thinking was possible. The details in the shadows add a lot for me.

Hi Dvir, repost works better for me too. Very nice formation and you handled the harsh lighting well...I too could see this being a lovely B&W conversion.

I agree with Andrew that it would make a great B&W image. Here's the one-click conversion I mentioned in Post #2 above. I'm sure NIK SEP would offer many additional nice conversions and so would B&W adjustment layer in PS, but 1-click Auto shows the potential of this image for B&W.

I prefer your color version, but I see the attraction of a B&W version.

Cool rock formation!
I think you handled the light well, though I think sunset/dawn light would work best here. Nice depth here with the formations at the back and the moon is a nice touch in a cloudless sky.
I too think it would rock (pun, yes) in monochrome if converted with care and love...

Thanks Morkel, yeah I can try some black and white with it, see what path that leads too.
