Another one from my front garden recently. This little species unfortunately gets hammered by the larger and more aggressive Red Wattlebirds!
Some playback used. Thanks for looking, Greg.

Beautiful bird, pose (head may be angled slightly away though), perch, and BG. Very nice setup! My only issue is that the setup is almost too perfect (if that makes any sense).

That's a very interesting point about setup pictures!
Can a picture be too perfect?
Perhaps it would help to consider the natural beauty of imperfections. The Japanese call this Wabi-sabi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wabi-sabi).

However, I have to say that this picture is drop dead gorgeous!

Very eye catching image, I like the bird and the flowers, I would suggest selecting the background and desaturating it a little, it makes a difference and the image isn't quite so bright overall and the contrast between the bird and background is enhanced.

Hi Greg, love the light in this, and you have certainly nailed the overall sharpness and DOF. Nicely framed between the foliage, and posed against a smooth BG.

I believe the temperatures have been very high in Melbourne, not easy to play tennis in.

With regards to the cricket, it will be very interesting indeed. Are Australia that strong???? - or have England just been really bad???? You will be facing the NO 1 Test playing nation. :w3

Hi Greg
As said technically perfect. I have raised the issue about plain backgrounds quite a lot lately and I have to say I personally prefer a little "something" - how ever faint. Not always possible though. No doubt though- a georgeous bird, and the flower makes it. Is it jacaranda? I think I used to grow this in my nursery days.
Cheers
John

This is just stunning. Too good? Well maybe, but I'll settle for too good any day. Just a tad of head turn would push this even further over the top.

Stunning image. I love the colors and setup. I might decrease the brightness on the branch, and consider cropping so the bird is more on the left. I think I would also like to see more of the flower on the right side of the screen.

Very pretty, the setting with the flowers is beautiful and the bird is fantastic. Could be a bit sharper but its still very nice.

The bird is lovely, but the colors of the BG and plants are overdone, to me, and the contrast on the flowers is very flat. I brought it into PS and used Selective Color to tweak the yellows and blues -- I didn't go very far and it doesn't show well except in direct comparison to the original, as in loading both into PS as layers and clicking the top one on and off.

Beautiful colors. I like this a lot. I love how the eye is so sharp and stands out so well against the other colors.
