Canon 1D4, Canon 500mm f/4L + Canon 1.4II + Kenko 1.5 (1050mm), 1/640", f/10, ISO 500, tripod, cropped tight to eliminate the foreground shorline and background shoreline. I guess I could have removed the one blade of grass in the lower right of the image.

A rarity for most people to see a snowy owl bathing let alone one at all. Great work and timing on this photo

Quite unique to see one bathing, and in beautiful blue waters no less! I like the one-eyed peek-a-boo look. I do wish you had more canvas at right though. I bet you got a pretty good series of this opportunity!!

I've never seen a bathing shot like this; pretty cool encounter! Only wish you had more canvas on the right.

What a unique behavior you have managed to capture! Love the pose and the turn back look. Snowy works great against the blue BG. Do you have more space to the right of the owl and maybe a little bit on top? I would rework the crop and think you'd find an even more powerful and even winning image!

Thank you everyone for the suggestions for this image. Like I said I had shorlines to worry about when I cropped it so I ended up having to clone in the upper portion of the image to give the Owl some breathing room. I went ahead and removed the blade of grass while I was at it.

Daniel....the bath lasted about 15 minutes and I wished it had turned towards me and some point but it never did so I ended up with plenty of the one eye looks from the Owl. It could care less about me being there but it certainly kept an eye on me as well. I wished I didn't have to stack extenders but I did what I had to do with this somewhat tolerant Owl......150' was as close as it would let me get.
