Snow Bunting.

A flock of Snow Buntings has been hanging out in the general area of the Snowy Owl, and they too provide some nice opportunities for avian photography! Car used as blind, seeds strewn along bottom of snow-plowed mounds to entice the flock there.

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1600s., f/7.1, ISO 800, natural light, handheld (lens resting on window opening ledge)

This is sweet!
This is my nemesis bird.I have yet to get a good shot of this little bird even though I see them a lot. They are not interested in seed here in Cape Breton.
Back to the image:
I like the comp. The sweep of the snow mound from the right leads the eye nicely to the bunting. Great cheery pose with perfect HA. The whites look awesome throughout the image. Do you meter off the snow?

In abundance in a well known ski resort in Scotland, feeding on tit bits left by drivers and skiers, sweet little birds.

Daniel this looks spot on to me,I find trying to photograph these in the snow difficult but that does not look like a problem to you, excellent.

Thanks guys! Gail (and Keith) yes, I in this case I meter off the snow and check the histogram and for blinkies. If the subject is there and cooperates (say, a snowy owl, for example) I meter off of it...either way gives me same result.

I prefer the softness of the original frame. The repost has a bit too much contrast IMO. I love how puffy these birds get to stay warm!

Love the OP. White on white exposure is terrific, with just enough detail in the mound to make it work. Lovely color, and perfect pose. No nits. Repost has too much punch.
