Otis tarda
Great Bustard females captured today on the road to Salto, a small hamlet in Portugal's Alentejo.
Presented here in pano, it is a biggish crop but I think really shows of the magic of the Montado and Pseudo step.
These birds are Europes heaviest flying birds. A resident these are sensitive to human approaches and are an endangered species.
Along with these beautiful birds was also a group of endangered Common Cranes!
