While I have accumulated several hundred Snowy images in the last five weeks, this one stands out as one of the most satisfying. Not only was the bird very close but the diffused light was perfect. And while I would have preferred a clear view of the mouth the overall habitat perspective was good. Hoping for a pellet purge that never came. Crop is about 60% of the frame. Hand held.

Bit of grass over the mouth does not bother me at all, think you have really caught the moment with the blowing grass and beach setting, great shot.

As you say Allen a clear face view would have been the icing but my Snowies are all in rescue centres so it would do for me !!
Cheers

Love the exposure here.... of bird against BG.... Perhaps a slice off the bottom? Most unique Snowy I've seen (and loved).... this is precious.

Tis the season for these beauties it seems and I am hoping to catch sight of one soon myself. Strange seeing them on beaches and not snow but still very cool. I like that the owl is deep in the dune and grasses. Just wish that one wasn't going across the face
