Northern Cardinal

Houston, TX

D800, 85/1.4, ISO 200, f11, Multi-flash, PhotoTrap trigger

More fun using the PhotoTrap. The background is a large print.

Perfect flight shot Alan, Sharp- wings in right position- good BG. What more to say ? As I have said before I like a little detail in the backdrop but others like the opposite. You or we like what we like. No need to explain it in my book ! I have left other forums because it felt as though I wa being told what I should like. Does that sound odd ?
Great shot anyway whatever.
Cheers

There is a strange red hue directly in front of the bird's head. It starts at the base of the crest and flows around to and out from the tip of the upper mandible. Is this a result of the multi flashes? Or perhaps a slip of the finger in processing?
Two dust bunnies also jus out from the red area I described.

Best flight shot of a cardinal ever! It has everything. Love the downward tilt of the body, and the wing position, the eye contact, the head angle, and the background are just perfect!

Hey Chris, good eyes. I went back and looked at the RAW, and sure enough, there is a very slight ghosting on the image. Thanks for seeing it and saying something.

Love it Alan. Great fanned tail and wing with amazing detail. I am a little distracted by the wing tip in front . Is that what it is?

Thanks for the explanation Alan.

Cheryl I think that might be the Alula feather?

Thanks for the explanation Alan.

Cheryl I think that might be the Alula feather?

Yes, the alula. Not always seen in small birds in flight. That's why I love the multi flash with the trigger.
