I have my clone stamp set to normal and zero hardness, but it clones much brighter or lighter then the area I have selected from. What do I have to do to resolve this problem?

My guess : Uncheck the Aligned box in the tool bar.

This will allow the sample area to remain as origionally set or remain a set distance from the tool as you use it.

Also make sure the Mode is set to Normal vs maybe Screen?

You very well could be using the eraser tool Ted! Sometimes you can see the circle brush cursor and think you are on a certain tool but you are actually on another.

You probably already created some adjustment layers and are cloning the background layer. Won't work. Create a new layer, name it clone, and put it on top. Clone within that layer.

Bingo, that would be my guess as well.

Or you can turn off the adjustment layers, clone on a Background Copy that is below them and then turn them back on.
