Work life has gotten in the way of photography. I finally had the chance to shoot over Thanksgiving break. I went out to Green Cay two mornings to get some images of this famous resident. It was a lot of waiting and did not have much luck. I thoroughly enjoyed when she flew into the back side, giving me an opportunity to create a dramatic image. Bird was far away, thus going for a shot showing the habitat. Enjoy and please share.

I like the dark green BG and translucent primaries. the eye is not visible though and the watermark really ruins the image.

Thanks Arash. Christopher, I believe they were bugs that got backlit as well.

I like the mood you got, and the comp is nice as is. I would personally get rid of the white highlights in the BG and I find that the subject itself has a greenish cast to it - you can try selectively adding some red or magenta to it.

I agree about the watermark and I too would suggest removing the white spots. Great wing position though.

With a few tweaks, I think this is a lovely image, Troy. I agree on removing the highlights, even though I am not a fan of cleaning up images. There is definitely a cast on the bird, and thank you to Daniel for that good catch. The bird looks much better without the cast b/c I just tried it. The back lighting really makes this image special.

Is it a Red-shouldered Hawk? God suggestions above. What's the big ugly circle C on the bird's wing???

Thanks Arash. I did look at the face and then ignored it....
