Going through last years pics I came upon a lot I never processed. This was taken April 2012 at Bill Forbes' place in AZ.

The bird, background, and perch are nice...so clean. A bit of a head turn would have made this a bit more engaging to the viewer and I would tighten up the crop.

Quite a stronger image and would be even more so if the WP were facing toward the viewer just a tad.

nice capture, like the BG and perch, the bird looks like a punk rocker of the woodpecker world:S3:TFS.

Love the raised crest, BG, perch. The perch is tack sharp but it looks like the subject moved a little bit and perhaps critical focus was on the perch. Yes, a better head angle would have been more engaging to the viewer.

Very lovely pose & perch. Excellent BG & nice IQ.I always enjoy your woodpeckers photos. The only things that I can mentioned is some hardly visible horizontal & vertical lines in front of the bird in the BG. TFS
