Taken at the Alligator Farm yesterday. 1D Mark III, 1/1600 sec, f 5.6, Av, ISO: 400 ,100 to 400mm
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I know there are shadow issues but these guys don't always fly the direction you want.

Nice COMP, otherwise, good try, but you needed well less or no sun to pull it off... As is, the head could use some sharpening.

Hi Judy would be helpful if you give the compensation !!! As Artie mentioned heavy overcast is the key With the sun shining the top of the head will be toast most of the time. Would also try using fill flash. For the fill flash you need to be careful with the light output. Making images at 1/1600 will cut the output.

Judy

as you know shooting from below is not always easy especially when the sun is stronger

did you use any flash ? if not flash definately helps to fill in those shadows

the whites seem a little blown already in some areas.

Another thing is to dodge the shadows a little to make them lighter as well

No flash was used and I was at a +2. I understand the concept now and hope to correct my mistakes next chance I get. Thanks again.
