A different perspective on the Wigeon. I've been shooting these guys in the local BioPark pond, but thought it would be nice to get them as they fed in the grass. Took some time to isolate one, and I got a nice surprise when this one decided to stretch her leg and wing.

Shooting info:
Canon 5D3 | 500 f/4 II
1/640 | f/6.3 | ISO 1250

Thanks to Doug for letting me borrow some gear again. I'll have some of my own again real soon!

On a related note, anyone know how long it takes Nikon to get gear back? I sent in my 500 for a quick CLA and they said (3 weeks after they got it) that they needed to replace the manual focus ring. Sure, except now they need to order parts from Japan (didn't tell me that initially) and don't have an estimate for when they will get the parts or finish their repair. It's been a month and they haven't started the repair as they wait for parts. :(

Way to go getting low! Nice stretch and perfect head angle. Nice details and exposure. Quite a different wigeon image, I like!

Nice pose, shooting angle, HA and feather detail. Wish she stretched the near wing instead but nice none the less. Nice work.

They certainly like to get on the grass, more than other ducks it seems and are always in groups where I live.
Nice getting one alone and nice pose and exposure.

Ditto on all the comments. Do I see a slight magenta cast?

nice pose and details, good use of shallow dof. to my eye it needs ccw rotation

Awesome pose, killer head angle/catchlight. What I enjoy most is the crop choice. It really works here, with just the right balance of space and tightness. The duck looks level to me, despite the slight slope in the ground.
