Decided to use my old 1.4 converter on the 7D today.

My liitle friend was sat in full view annoying the **** out me with my 100-400.
Anyways at least the sun was quite low and behind me. I am pleased with the shots I got.
Hope you like him or her!

Nice looking small owl
the BG is wonderful, perch is a bit overpowering to the image.

Richard this is nice I don't have a problem with the perch in fact its a nice gnarled bit of wood, it would be nice without so much shadow over the right eye ,minor nit.

Keith.

Hi
Thanks

for info the wood is a large Oak trunk and the Owls live inside. The approach is completely open. I see them regularly but its not often I get shots.

I really like what you were going for here, but I feel this image could be stronger with this comp. You still have a super powerful perch, but it's not taking over the image. I also lightened the darker eye socket a tad. I would sharpen the owl a tad more.

Thanks Marina, nice interpretation, I will have another look.
The Owls are going to be around now, indeed there are at least 5 nesting trees/homes close by. They are very skitty and I no hide atm.
Wish I had another 400mm!

Richard, Marina's repost of this does certainly improve what is a very nice image. These owls are a bit on the rare side around me but I did manage to get one decent site so lucky you to have so many.
