Green Woodpecker at pool
Trouble is , this time of year all the rain puddles leaves them spoilt for choice !
Usual set up.
D200 Sigma 100-300
640 ISO
80th @f7.1
Pity about the log in the back.
few highlights removed.

Thanks Nick
Interesting thing is that if they come at 4 0'clock one day its almost certain it will be there same time the next day,- which is handy !!

Beautiful image of a lovely bird. I don't remember seeing one of these before, and if I did, it certainly was not at a little pool like this. It's neat to see a woodpecker in this setting. No suggestions for improvements, I like it just as is.

Fine shot, and with the added interest of it at the pool.
Nice details and good use of aperture. How close were you, these are usually pretty skittish, I see their yellow backsides all the time as they fly away.
A bird I am expecting back in my area any time now.

Very cool looking pecker. Never seen one of these even in a picture. I think you're doing a great job with the images you're getting in your pool. You have managed to give them a window and the added environment isn't distracting but adds quite a bit of interest.

Thanks all.
The interesting thing is that this pool is a mere(no pun intended) Three feet across at the most. !I,ll see if I can find a pic of the hide as well.

Hi Johnny, love the light in this, and in turn, the colours show up so well. Good DOF on the WP, sharp, and I do like the leaning pose. Well captured.

Unique setting for a woodpecker. I agree with you about the log directly behind the bill, but I do enjoy the image very much.

You have an amazing location for photography Johnny. You seem to get close views of species I can't find or only see at a distance.

A super shot John, I really am enjoying these images. I have taken the liberty of desaturating the yellows a little bit I think it is a tad more realistic but that is just my opinion - what do you think?

Thanks all.
Joh - I have to admit I do have a problem with some colours, but to be honest I can't see a lot if any difference in your post . As I say I do have a colour problem ,but also have the camera on auto WB warm which I prefer.. The green leaves surrounding the pool sometimes cause a problem too Could be that.( Or my aged eyes.)

John, the difference is not great but it is noticeable to me. We are almost certainly using different monitors (mine is an Eizo), and will not have them calibrated exactly the same so we will almost certainly be seeing different colours.
