I have never been able to get so close to a killdeer . This was after sundown while driving home from work. Just happened to be browsing close to the road.
7D+700, f5.6, ISO 1600, 1/400 . Pop up flash, Handheld.
Added canvas to the left and slight strip to the top. NR and sharpening.

Lovely shot. Can't decide on the bottom left corner somehow. Great looking bird anyway.

Excellent looking bird, I do like the soft pastel coloured BG.

Lovely image of the Killdeer. Sharp, with nice colors and bg. Too bad the oof spot on the left foreground occupies such a large part of the frame, but sometimes we can't control that.

Lovely pose, bird and image. The OOF doesn't bother me at all, except I do find the stray grass just a tad distracting. I think you have a slight blue cast in the whites of your bird's chest and maybe a tad bit oversharpened...although not absolutely sure. Well done.

excellent light pose details. nice low angle, IMO the oof blub in the lower left corner is distracting, in part because I can't tell what it is.

Lovely shot well exposed, the grass tussock is just a little dominant due to it's size, you could consider toning it down a little or even making a mask and repositioning it to make it smaller.
