For the repost I went NIK 50-50 on the bird only along with a contrast mask at 15/65/0 as the bird looked as if it could use some more sharpening/detail. And toned down the YELLOW a bit. Are you back home or still there?

Like the repost, Arthur, Unfortunately I am back in dreary Oregon.
All the birds I shot were a bit soft, A not great easy travel combo, The 70-200 vrii for all around and I took a 2x
For birds which is not ideal with that lens. If I had known the variety of birds there, I would have taken a bigger lens.
I shot mainly Landscape, the Napali coast and Waimea Canyon.
I may post some of those.

nice low angle light and extra sharpening helps. I wish he had not interested with the veggies in the BG

Welcome back Dan,
Great low POV and I like Artie's repost.
Do you have the next frame where he has moved away from the bright vegetation?

Hi Dan, lovely low angle, and the bent left leg just adds that little bit more from a normal pose. I would maybe take a bit off the top.

The exact same thing happened to me Dan.
I had been to Maui a few times so last year I decided to bring my pro body to try to get some bird shots. If I would have known there were so many cool birds there I would have brought the big lens as opposed to my 100-400. Its ok but not near as sharp as my 500 so most of my shots like yours are a hare soft due to the lens we chose to take on vacation. Looks like you may have found your birds in the same type of areas that I did, around golf coarse lawns and nicer neighborhoods front lawns.
I found allot of stuff while I was there including Francolin. These Plovers were all over the lawns of some of neighborhoods I drove. Nice capture on this one with a good pose and color. The sharpening helped. Gives us a reason to go back. Next Trip !!

Nice pose and the repost is an improvement.

I like the plover and its' walking pose, and I also like the manicured lawn. Not so crazy about the brightness of the highlights in the vegetation in the BG.

Spectacular image. I like the walking pose, beautiful colors in the frame and above all the 3D effect caused by BG and FG.

Satish.
