I hate posting right after Alan and Mike.:e3 Makes my ordinary robin very..ordinary!
Cloudy day. Spent the day going to my various haunts but this is the only interesting shot I got.
Canon 1DX
F 600 and 1.4X
ISO 1600
f 5.6 @ 1/640
Comments and critiques always appreciated and learned from with thanks,
Gail

Hi Gail, great DOF overall, and you have brought out excellent feather detail on the Robin. Comp works well with the perch extending into the frame, and the berry in the beak puts this over the top.

Stunning capture, Gail!

Stunning colours, red berries and one in beak makes it a special moment!

I would run NR on BG- 1600 ISO is showing a bit.

Impressive IQ, the red berries makes it very attractive
the bird has lovely details , i like the details you captured inside the open beak which makes it stand out for me.

Gail:

You did the robin proud. I haven't seen one eating berries before, so neat, with nice detail showing. Yes to the noise, but minor.

A little DE on the plumage?

Cheers

The IQ is excellent.
Overall, the compo and colors are working very well.

Excellent IQ, very nice perch and the berry in the beak puts it over the top. The background could have been a little more smooth but that's what you got and it is good.

Lovely comp, nice pose, brilliant berries including, of course, the piece de resistance in the beak.

Quite sweet. Ordinary is never ordinary when done well. Noise noted and the image looks just a tiny bit flat. Perhaps a point or two of brightness.

Here is a repost with +15 brightness added and more NR to BG.
Thanks for all your helpful comments,

Hi Gail
First looked fine on my equipment. I always think of your Robins being like ours but of course they are not!!

Excellent pose, perfect timing on capturing the berry as it was plucked and ready to eat. Great IQ. Both before and after look great to me, nothing not to like and much to be envious of on this one! Congratulations on a great shot.

The repost looks better in terms of brightness and the BG smoothed out nicely. Very Nice looking Robin, especially with the berry in his mouth. Nice and sharp and well exposed. Well done Gail.
