Taken earlier this year during early morning. A different angle. Would lifting the lens a bit help here to show more of the "feet"?

7D, 500mm @F/7.1, 1/1250, ISO 800, Audio used to call the bird out in the open. Bird standing on a walking trail between two small ponds...

Comments welcome

It is a tad oversharp and I would go with a less square crop.
The feet look fine to me.
A fine image of a difficult to get in the open subject.

Wow, this particular family of birds is rather shy, good to see that your play back gave you good results. Like the pose, light and BG. I am not so concerned about the feet as you left enough room there.

How did you get this guy out in the open? And then how did you get that pose?! Very nicely captured. I don't mind the feet, but it couldn't have hurt to have just a slightly steeper angle to show those feet.

excellent light and details, slightly higher would give us a better view of the feet and I wish the bird was parallel to the back of the camera. I like the water drops

nice work TFS

I don't know the species, so I have no idea how elusive they are.
I will now recognise one if I see one :S3:
Terrific colours and detail.
I would have liked to see a bit more of the feet, if only to lose that bar of light grey running across the bottom of the frame.

great POV, pose & details. the light & BG are exceptional. would prefer a more horizontally oriented comp.

Enrique don't think I would be concerned about the feet as said above you have done very well to get this bird out in the open ,I do like the head turn very nice.

thanks for all your comments. I have a couple more images from that day which I may share later that 1- show more feet and 2- are more parallel to camera sensor... ;)

Colors and detail are superb, as is the look-back pose. Amazing shot of an elusive bird. I'd just back off a tad on the sharpening. Nicely done.

Love the light and the sharpness. With the 7D f/7/1 was enough to maintain sharpness from tail to bill. Well done. I love the angled away pose with the nice view of the spread tail and the perfect look back head angle. You might wish to work on the too light green and light grey areas behind and to the left of the bill. Overall, an outstanding image in my book.
