I almost trashed this one -- I got other shots of the Stilt by himself, and I'm not usually a fan of OOF birds (Daniel's recent Grebes are the exception) -- but when I looked a second time this one made me chuckle, so I figured I'd share it.

Nice light and exposure, and yes the image is good for a chuckle or two:S3:. I actually wish there was even more canvas at right, and the face of the stilt seems to suffer from subject movement blur. Thanks for liking my grebe image!

Thanks guys. I'm afraid there's no more room on the right. This is almost full frame - I cropped just a tad off the left, and forgot to mention that I removed part of an OOF Dunlin on the left as well. As to the head, I thought it might be that the focus point was off. Capture NX2 says it was on the head, but I don't trust that, and think it's time I rechecked my AF fine tuning. But at 1/1000 I suppose it could be motion blur.

Very clever name Bill. Love the feel of the image, but I do agree about more room on the right. Not much you can do if you are following the stilt. Glad you kept this one!

Hi Bill, I like it too. A bit wider would likely have worked out better with more on our right and the complete reflection of the closest bird.... Most of the birds are Dunlin and I think that the one on the lower right might be a Least Sandpiper...
