Fellow BPN membere and friend Dan Cadieux and I photographed a pair of Dunlin at Andrew Hayden Park here in Ottawa last Saturday morning. Great time Dan!

The birds paused for a few minutes after foraging along the pond edge. I really should have adjusted my F-stop to create a shallower DOF but was pleased to catch the open.

Cropped to about 80% of the full frame.

excellent timing here. I also like the shoreline.

Nice one Stephen, I did not observe the bill being open at any time so you timed yourself well here! I like the juxtaposition of the two - as I was on the opposite side of you I have the sleeping one in front in my series:S3: A bit of noise that should be easily dealt, but all else looks great, especially the fall setting. It was fun for sure!!

I am enjoying this image b/c it has quite a bit of interest. The open bill is a huge plus, and I like the juxtaposition of both in the frame. The shorelines works nicely lined with leaves giving it that Fall feel. Nicely seen and executed.
