Hello Natugraphers :)

Today I bring you a nice and collaborative Little Owl that saved my day, after a very bad hidrohide session.

With this photo I was experimenting 2 things: post processing techniques and my new D4 :bg3:

EXIF: Nikon D4 | 500mm f4 + TC1.4X | f8 | 1/1250 | ISO1600

I like the pose and the single out-of-place feather on the bird's head. I would like to see a bit more of the perch. And you have a green cast to the image that should be easily correctable.

I love that feather too! Great calling or yawning? pose. I thought of suggesting a vertical because of the light spots in the bg but I like the comp as posted so my suggestion would be to darken the lighter area of the bg a little to make it less distracting.

Thank you Doug.

I really removed a diagonal branch in PP. Can you please tell me in what part of the image are you seeing the green cast?

Hi Tiago, lovely pose and a neat perch - too bad there is not more of it showing. The image in general has a greenish/cyan cast and adding some reds would help negate that. I would also patch up the bit of processing artefacts from the branch you cloned out in lower left corner and right of the perch. Congrats on the new toy!!

Hi Tiago. Very nice calling pose of this sweet species. I don't know the species but it does look a bit green overall but shows up mostly in the white feathers. As per Daniel's comment it can easily be corrected. I would like to see a bit more space at the bottom.

Thank you all for your support! You're the best :)
I'm devolloping/starting my PP techniques and my eyes and technique aren't that trained yet.

I've redone it from scratch with a lower crop and with your C&C in mind.
Cheryl I just don't know how can I darken the brighter parts of the FG without making it look unnatural.

More C&C are very welcome :)

Tiago was kind enough to send me his RAW file, and I took the liberty of doing a quick reprocess of it. The white balance is different (warmer) and I've opted for less contrast.

Thank you Doug, it does look more real
