Took this a little while back, again early in the morning right before the sun came up. All C&C welcome.

Looks fine to me. I like the way the breast/throat feathers look like fish scales!

Check out the low-light techs! Lots of details on those feathers. I do wish you had pointed your lens down a bit more and with some of the canvas at right trimmed for a vertical composition.

Outstanding detail Lyle. I've never had much luck with these so congrats on getting so close. Gotta love those little feet and the sweet pose. . Not sure about the comp with her so far to the left. I think I would feel better with that part if there was a little less empty on top too.

Lyle you have got some superb detail and sharpness considering the low light and 1/40 shutter speed I think it's excellent.

excellent perch, BG & details. a conventional vertical crop might look better.

The best Kingfisher photo I've ever seen (meaning, my favourite). Fabulous detail/pose/composition.
Would love to see a shot of you covered with the grass camouflage!
