Shot this lovely raptor on the weekend. Baited with salmon.
Sunny day but the sun went behind the clouds as I was tracking this guy.
1DX, 600mm II
ISO 800
F 5.0
SS 1/1600
Crop from Horizontal and a sliver of canvas added up top.
PP: crop, NR to BG, levels, increased saturation by +5, DE at 3%.
Would have loved a bit of head turn but he was intent on taking this across the water to a favorite perch.
Comments and critiques always learned from and appreciated with thanks,
Gail

HI gail
Difficult one to crop I reckon. Would be nice to get the head a bit farther right so as flying "into" the shot. Landscape may be ok ?.
No big deal anyway- great picture.

Good sharpness. I like that the body is superimposed cleanly on the shore. I do wish the head was angled towards us, and the far wing position could be better.

I like the sharpness, details and exposure. I agree with Doug's comment on wing position and HA. Nice image Gail and look forward to seeing more.

Hi Gail, excellent details and sharpness. I can see the details in the individual dark feathers, so very well exposed. The BG is a bit distracting, but there is not much you can do about it. Loi

Sharp and a great eye level shot, Gail.
I think the BG is superb. When a natural BG with features is considered "distracting",
then bird photography is dead to me.
Excellent photo......

Hi Gail, stunning sharp detail you managed to get and catch is a bonus. I would have also preferred seeing the far wing but still works nicely as is, nicely done.

I really like that wing stretched high into the high-key sky. Lovely details on the plumage and the salmon head is a big bonus

The open mouth of the fish make the shot for me. Nice wing position.

Hi Gail, great view of the near wing, and Im fine that the other wing is not visible ( apart from the tiny bit below ). Well exposed and sharp, and the his catch a bonus.

Lovely shot I like the pose and the super detail, the out of focus background sets it off very nicely.

Nice capture Gail and lucky that the Salmon head is facing the right way,the open mouth looks cool. The exposure and detail looks nice and I personally like the BG, especially the trees. Well done.
