Just opening rose, taken recently at McKinley Park in Sacramento. Canon 5D-III, TS-E 90, 1/250, f/4, ISO 200. Tripod mounted, using a small reflector as a shade. I had quite a bit of fun using the TS-E 90 as a macro lens, bare and with extension tubes. I have other frames at f/11, but liked the soft white petals better.

I like this one very much, Alan! I definitely agree that shallow DOF was the way to go here. The exposure is perfect; I don't think it would have worked so well with brighter whites. Reminds me of one I did a few years ago, but my comp was tighter--yours works much better. Looks like the center of a rose splashing into a bowl of milk. VWD!

Wonderful abstract here I like the placement of the stamens and soft OOF petals surrounding them.

Hi Alan. This may be a little too abstract for my tastes - but that's just me. :S3: I like that the stamens are sharp (and colorful) so my eye has something to lock onto and I also like the off-center placement of them near the ROT position. I agree that the 90 mm tilt/shift lens is a fun lens to use for macro!

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. It looks like and Ippolito softer side of macro, the highest compliment I can give :). See you in Japan in winter!
