Another of our breeding shags from my trip down to the lake on Friday evening. I liked the BG of this as thay are usually over water or sky but there is a narrow band of hills in the BG which gave this nice mix of pastel colours. They alsways come in to land with their beak wide open - I'm not sure if it's a scream of terror (the landings can be pretty sketchy) or an airbrake!

Hi Tony - think this a super shot and love the comp. Good details and you have handled the shadow areas well. Enjoy the mix of pastel colours but most of all the pov of approach, out stretched wings and HA with beak open. I always find observation of behaviour interesting and it is not always easy to work out. It could also be a part of a display as it prepares to land amongst others. It might even be :w3 listening for something if it landing on its own somewhere. I know that out here in the bush as eel as in general I ALWAYS seem to open my mouth to listen if I hear something. It enhances your ability to hear better. Just an arb thing I know. Anyway great shot

Incredible incoming pose Tony! Very sharp with a nice pastel BG. If you have a little room at the bottom of the frame I'd consider adding a bit.

A really first class image great action stopping frame. My only minor criticism is that perhaps the bird is just ever so slightly large in the frame. Al little more space left and bottom perhaps??

Tony:

Great pose. Perhaps he is warning other critters that he is coming in, and a smooth landing isn't for sure!

Love the action. Only think that could have made it better would be for the sun angle to be a bit more your way, to reduce the shadow.

Oh, yeah, agree that he is a bit big i the frame.

Cheers

Randy

Only thing that could have made this better is for the near wing to be open more (which would also have prevented the belly from being shaded). Other than that this is fantastic, quite dynamic! Love that gaping mouth :-)

The BG is stunning.
Love the yellow pop from the open bill. Tack sharp.I would also clone out the second catchlight in the eye.
Excellent as is but maybe a bit more room all around if you have it,
Gail
