Greetings. I'm always enthralled by the chase behavior of the hummers this time of year as the adults convince the young'uns to move on. Hard to photograph though. Caught this one on the fly.

Hi Michael,

The moment captured here is great, but the focus just isn't there. Looks like you were focused a bit ahead of the bird (on the plant). Nice choice of SS, but I might shy away a bit and get more depth of field via the aperture.

Hopefully you have a couple more to share.

This image is so unique and so close but as Miguel mentions, the focus is off a tad. You can see how sharp the buds are vs the HB's head. I love what you were going for. I would keep on trying until I succeeded.

Ditto the previous critiques, but man what a wicked beautiful flower! Sounds like fun watching these guys' behaviour.:c3:

Miguel, Marina, Daniel,

Thanks much for your comments. Yeah, I can see the focus isn't quite there. I have a more standard feeding shot here, but would really like to get the dive sometime. May try a street setup next time (fixed pre-focus zone).

Cheers,

Michael, nice composition, pose, flower. The focus issue was already mentioned. You may want to try the 1.4X if you have one for faster AF.
