I feel like I've been in a photography "slump" the last few weeks. Every time I go out lately I come home pretty much empty handed. Very frustrating

So with nothing new to post - here's one from a few weeks back down in Texas. This image was taken at a feeder station in Bentsen Rio Grande S.P. I placed the perch next to the feeder table and waited for one of these guys to arrive.

I used 4 flashes for this image - 3 on the bird and one on the BG.

Hi Glen,
Great perch, bird and BG. I must be on a DOF kick today........wondering if the BG would be ruined by going to f8???? I wouldn't scarifice it for more tail detail in this instance. that is one sweet bird.

I know how you feel Glenn...I felt I was in such a slump for most of April :-) Great looking bird - looks like a tough one to get details out the chin/throat areas.

I have never seen one of these before. I really like the colors.

Great Glenn, I have seen this bird only in captivity and I would love to photograph them in freedom. you obtained a pleasant result here. I like the perch, the nice BG and the pose of the jay.
