Took this a couple summers ago while canoeing on a slow moving river.

Light was sweet, Tim! Very crisp image with tons of detail. White streaks on chest a bit hot. IMHO I would add a bit of space on top.
Love the reflection and the little water pearls on grass.

Nice catch and good IQ on the bird, but I'd like to see a little more room on the bottom. The bird is in a sort of "squished" pose as it is, and the tight crop on the bottom gives it a somewhat uncomfortable feeling.

I'd also look at color balance or at tweaking the red hue slider (try that before changing the saturation) in Hue-Saturation. I'm not that familiar with this bird but something seems not quite optimal in the colors.

The reds on a Green Heron in breeding plumage are quite rich - and in combination with the morning sun in a saturated boreal environment can make a photo look exaggerated. I only slid the contrast a bit to the right for detail.
It helps to familiarize yourself with the bird (plumage) in different environments at certain times of the year, as it changes the photo dramatically. Thanks.

I like the hunting pose, reflection, details and complimentary colours. I would add a little up top as well. Excellent image Tim!
