Minamalist Seascape

I took this on the Bay of Fundy Trail in New Brunswick last month. I was taken by the striations of color in the water and wanted to smooth them out a little so I shot this at 1/15 sec., f/13, ISO 100 with my Canon 5DMkIII, 24-105 @105mm. I decreased the clarity a little in LR to smooth the upper colors a little more and then used Nik CEP White Neutralizer. I know it looks a little subdued but it was a foggy day and I tend to like a subtle palette anyway.

Very nice!! The horizon is level and flat -- which I think is important in an image like this -- a technical subtlety. Then the viewer can get into the dreamy aspects without distraction. Does that sound crazy?? Maybe there' a better way to say it.

I love the subtle colors and tones and the cloud shadow (?) is the perfect touch. I think I've seen similar pieces from John Paul Caponigro.

If it were mine, I would edit out the three bands of sea foam in the middle foreground....to make it even more dreamy.
I might be tempted to crop it into a stronger panorama - but not an extreme crop -- just enough to eliminate a small part of the foreground and a little sky

Thanks for your comments, Diane and Don. My thinking on the sea foam (and I added a little tonal contrast to the waves) was to give it a little texture and context. I was inspired by an article in the Sept. 2011 National Geographic about the Sydney, Australia photographer, Murray Fredericks. I'd saved the article and photographs and it must have been in my subconscious when I saw the bay.:S3:

Hey Cheryl,
I too would eliminate the sea foam....for me it takes away from the mood. On Don's point.....I would crop out 1/2 the sky.....just works a bit better for me. All in all nice mood and feel to this!

Nicely seen and executed! I concur with suggestions about smoothing out or removing the sea foam.
I would also play around with slight boost in vibrance/saturation and even some subtle contrast to add to the overall mood?
