Canon EOS 3, 100mm macro, ISO 100, Early morning natural light, 1 sec F22, tripod.

I generally use F22 for these flying insects as quite often one pair of wings will be on a different plane. In this case, however, I think I could have got away with F16 or even 11. That would have given a softer BG.

Excellent image, John. I love the morning dew on the wings and think the background is superb. Great job.

Does look good John Not sure I would have gotten away for you settings Would soften the bg grass just a bit. Since it has all those lines of grass it does compete with the insects body lines. Easy to blur some. I like it a lot. Fine detail and the dew makes it special.

Very nice, the dew details are great. Is the name correct or is this a common sp?

I would like to see a little more room around the DF but I still like it as is.

I love the details and the amazing dew but the BKGr is a bit much for me...

Great dew. I agree that BG needs to be softened.

Hi John,
I'm with you on the f22..........but you may have been able to pull off less as you mentioned because the plane of the DF is extremely parrallel to you. Not sure I've ever seen one this flat! Agree on BG.......but also agree on the DF!
