I spotted this colorful spider (Araneus diadematus, cross orb weaver) on its web in a parking lot. Shot both back and front lit. This is one of the backlit captures. We're looking at the spider's ventral surface. I like the translucency that backlighting brings out in the legs.

Hi Bill. This is a nice view of the spider and you have good sharpness within your DOF. I think this image would be even better if the stands of the web were a little more distinct. Well done!

I might have been able to show more contrast in the web by putting up a black card behind the spider. Since the backlight was coming from a wide area, there would still have been light coming through the spider. Unfortunately, I didn't think of that at the time.

Nicely taken Bob good exposure and composition - I agree about the light, being able to see some translucency adds interest.
