I did not want this night to end, great light, great action and great friends Grace & Ted Scalzo to share it with.

The moment I saw the thumbnail I had a feeling this was the same heron Grace had been photographing. :) Love the light and the setting. Wish there were more feather details in your heron.

I knew this guy looked familiar! I thought it was the same one from Grace's post a bit back, and Marina confirmed.

Lovely light, and I like the vertical frame here. Looks like it could use a tad of CW rotation.

The light is to die for.
The vertical comp works well but I'd like just a little more space at the top, and possibly a bit less below the log so that the heron moves lower in the frame.
Your image is not quite as sharp as it could be. the head looks OK but the plumage on the wing and back are a little bit soft. A lower shutter speed would have allowed a better aperture and more DOF.
still sweet though.

Awesome light, and the vertical comp works quite well. Good colours. BG looks nice, but the two brighter blue spots tend draw the eye. Body and head are angled slightly away, but I realize you may not have been able to go to your left more. I do like the pose as if it is in scan mode for prey. How I wish it was standing at the edge of the perch though.

Sweet light and detail.
