Long Point World Biosphere

Long Point is a 45km narrow sand-spit extending out into Lake Erie - at its only 1 km in width at its widest point. It is an UNESCO World Biosphere due to lots of rare plant life and endangered critters. In a couple of weeks or so Monarch Butterflies will arrive in the thousands as they make their way to south. Today I had a wonderful opportunity to be escorted out to the very tip of the peninsula on a former Canadian Coast Guard Zodiac boat that was used for rescue operations on the Atlantic Ocean. Wow...what a ride!!!

This is a scene of the very tip of the Long Point peninsula at sunrise this morning, with a large number of gulls hanging out. The winds are very strong when you are out this far on the lake, which can be problematic with long lenses. I cloned out a few blurred gulls that I did not really like, but I did like the group flying into the scene on the left.

What a wonderful sky, and the beach has the perfect curve to echo the lines of the clouds. Wonderful soft colors. I agree about the birds, they are in the perfect spot.

Beautiful shot with fantastic sky and light. I like the composition a lot. The birds on the ground are great and I like the few flying birds even more - they add a lot to the image.

Nice flow to this image Andrew from the sweep of the land to the clouds, the birds ad another nice element.

The birds are a nice touch and pretty pastel colors.
I think a crop off the sky to right above the light through the clouds would look good.

I definitely like all your lines. Love the birds flying. Maybe it's just me but there seems to be either a good amount of saturation or contrast added?

Andrew, for me there's a lot of "muddiness" in the midtones here - as if you overcooked the shadow/highlights slider (which may not be what you actually did in processing).
I like the simplistic scene and the colours though...:e3

Morkel I did not use the shadow/highlight on this one but did use Topaz Clarity to maintain details in the clouds and brightened the sand a little with Viveza...maybe a touch too much...will take another look
