I found this guy, a baby Painted Turtle, in the middle of a trail. It was lucky I did not crush it as I was birding and had my sights set mostly upwards!! It lay motionless as I took its photograph...I then enticed it on a piece of bark and moved it safely off the path. This little fella's shell did not measure more than 1.5 inches across.
Canon 40D + Tamron 28-75 2.8 @ 75mm + 24mm Kenko extention tube, 1/200s., f/7.1, ISO400, +0.7 EC, lying low on ground (lens hood touching ground.)
