Buff-collared Nightjar - Madera Canyon, Santa Rita Mountains, Arizona, USA

Buffjars are rare visitors to southeastern Arizona and southwest New Mexico in the US but common over much of Mexico and northern Central America.

I agree with Karl. I also especially like the visible foot. It is neat seeing a less frequently posted subject. TFS.

Awesome bird and a great view of its plumage. Neat perch, and good dark BG. I do find the flash a bit strong due to the dark shadow under the wing and tail, and some spots are over-sharpened IMO. Still an impressive image of a rarity for those parts...congrats!

P.S. Too bad you do not have more canvas...were you able to back up and take some looser comps too?

Unfortunately I was on a 30 degree slope and in the only opening in an extremely spiny brush covered area.
