Was on Vacation with the family last week in DE. UPS delivered a used Mark IV the day before I left so I needed to try it out...

MarkIV 500+ 1.4, ISO 1250, f/8, 1/1000 skimmer ground pod. This was in slight cove along the shoreline so the green is a reflection from grasses along the point.
LR 5 adjustments and about a 20% crop. CS6 Smart sharpen on bird only.

Thanks for looking.

The slightly worn breeding plumage is still looking pretty sweet on this one. The slightly parted bill and sense of subject movement are both nice features to the image. Composition wise, the subject is close to approaching to large in the frame imo...A little fill flash would have been nice in this light quality, especially in regards to extra sparkle in the eye.

Love the slightly open bill with the tiny droplet. Raised foot makes a nice pose, and the colors and detail are lovely. I agree with Shawn that the bird is almost too large in the frame.

Good critique by Shawn, which I agree with. I like the subtle streaking in the BG and foot rising out of the water.

P.S. Congrats on the new camera!

Very nice image. Great sharpness and detail. I think that it needs just a little clockwise rotation. Nice move for you getting a used mark IV. I am thinking of doing the same thing upgrading from my current 7D.
